Starkey Hot Doggin'
Turtlie Speed Bump Palmer

Kaylie's sweet lil toy poodle, Charlie, got very, very sick, one night so Daddy rushed him to the vet. It appeared that Charlie had gotten into some poison and there was nothing the vet could do for Charlie except make him more comfortable. Daddy brought Charlie's little body home and we buried him in our little flower bed by the canal that Charlie loved to chase pine cones in. Daddy and Kaylie are going to go up in the mountains next spring and find a special rock and Daddy's going to make a headstone for Charlie. Kaylie felt so sad and we all shed a lot of tears. Mom always told Kaylie that if anything ever happened to Charlie she could get another pet. We talked about it and Kaylie said she always wanted a turtle. We looked and looked for just the right turtle. As Christmas approached Kaylie started getting her hopes up thinking we would never find her little turtle. Unbeknown to her, Momma was hot on the trail of her new turtle. She found an ad on KSL, but the owner lived in Utah and with the holidays coming, a trip to Utah was not an option. Daddy thought to call Aunt Micah and ask how close the address was to her. "No problem," said Aunt Micah. "That's only 10 minutes away." What a relief, but Aunt Micah's family wouldn't be coming to Idaho until after Christmas. So Daddy started to brainstorm again and realized cousin Rhett would be coming through Utah on his way to Idaho. Aunt Micah went and picked up our little turtle. Then Aaliyah took great care of the little girl until Rhett got there. Then, Rhett picked her up and on the way to Idaho they did some crime fightin' Ninja style! :) Finally, we got her to Grandma Palmers. We were going to Grandma's for Christmas Eve but there was absolutely no way to hide the turtle's cage in the car so we decided to give the turtle to Kaylie that night. She had NO idea she was getting the turtle. Daddy was wearing a sweater vest so he sneaked into the other room and put the turtle inside his vest. Then he came out into the family room and told Kaylie she had a present inside his sweater and she had to unwrap it. She began opening each button, one at a time. Her first glimpse inside she got a huge smile on her face because she thought Mom & Dad had gotten her some sea shells, which she loves. One more button and she jumped back. Aunt Ang captured the look on Kaylie's face with her camera, just as Kaylie realized it was a turtle in Daddy's sweater. You have never seen such a look of shock, excitement and surprise on anyones face. Getting "Turtlie Speed Bump Palmer" here was a whole family event. Thanks so much to everyone who helped. It was truly a moment to remember.

We want to thank everyone who helped out during Lisa's recovery from surgery. We couldn't have done it without all of you. Thanks for taking care of Graycie & Kaylie. After Lisa lost 2/3 of her blood, had a blood transfusion, and was rushed back into surgery, the recovery time has been much more challenging, but for her to rest knowing the girls were in good hands was an answer to our prayers. This ordeal, a routine hysterectomy, with all its complications makes a person realize what they have and humbled us immensely! We love our family & friends greatly and feel so, so fortunate to be a part of such a great support group!

Family Update
Since this seems to be one of the best ways for family & friends to stay connected I figured I should update everyone on the current happenings of each of our children.
Darrin just finished up spud harvest. He will be attending BYU-I in January. He has been hunting and fishing like crazy this fall. He shot his first bull elk with his bow this year. He sent me a picture from his cell phone of a two point buck rubbing up against the tree just below his tree stand. He didn't shoot it because he's waiting for something bigger. He loves the outdoors so much, he would really like to become a fish & game officer. He once told me that he wished he lived in the days of the mountainmen because that is how he would love to live. I just hope he meets a girl who loves to go camping as much as he does!!
Derek has had an adventurous summer. He worked with a hardwood flooring company all summer. He was out of town on jobs most the summer. He was sent to Iowa, Colorado, & California this summer. I think he liked visiting the beaches of southern California the best. He is now working as a transportation assistant for Bonneville School Distric 93 and volunteers at the haunted house in Shelley. He will be attending college in the near future. He loves cars & music and is a great big brother to his lil sisters, plus a great role model for Rayce.
Rayce lives in Twin Falls during the school year and is at our house every other weekend. We sure wish he lived closer so we could spend more time with him. During the summer he'll be spending a lot more time here. We all love to go camping & fishing all summer long. Rayce especially likes anything with wheels; motorcycles, bikes, skate boards, rip sticks, etc. and the more dangerous the better. Dad's cool with it but it scares Mom to death.
Kaylie is now in the fourth grade and absolutely loves Idaho History. She is still attending Iona Elementary. Last year was her first year there and in the beginning a boy challenged "the new girl" to a race. When she left him in her dust and won the race the boy offered to become her "manager" and line up races for her. Needless to say, the boy that ever catches her heart better be a fast runner. She is very athletic and is now taking dance lessons. Mom thinks her greatest talent is singing. She sings everywhere she goes and always in the shower. Her only problem is that she is very shy when it comes to singing when people want her too. I sure hope she grows out of it so she can share her talent with others. She's momma lil clone with her big brown eyes, brown hair and spunky little personality.
Bringing up the rear is our little baby Graycie. She is growing so fast, due to the fact that she is such a good little eater. Her favorite activities are burping, pooping, spitting up once in a while, and she cries, but not a whole lot. This past week she has just begun to smile. I mean on purpose, not just because of a gas bubble. Darrin once asked, "Mom, when will Kaylie do something like walk or talk?" Well look at little miss Kaylie now and I know Graycie will grow up quick just like her big sister. We are so thankful this sweet little angel has come down to this earth and joined our little family. We love our sweet baby Graycie!!!
