The Palmer's

Darrin's Farewell

With only 13 days notice, Darrin is back out in the mission field. He left Wednesday morning to San Bernardino, CA. I have to say, its the happiest sad I've ever been. He's now been gone three days and we haven't heard from him yet. Its hard not having any information; no address; no word; no idea when Pday is; nothing. I'm not even sure which area of San Bernardino he is in, but I'm sure we'll hear something soon.

To make things harder, Derek left for Iowa on Monday morning for three weeks. He installs and refinishes hardwood floors and he is there with his company. With both gone I'm getting a healthy dose of the empty-nest syndrome. UGH Its comforting though being able to call and text Derek.

Just 10 1/2 more weeks until our little baby girl is set to arrive. She seems to be doing well and growing lots. I "flunked" my glucose test (as Brady says it) on Tuesday so he's put me on a good diet and I'll go in this coming Monday for a three hour long test. If I "flunk" that one too they'll put me on a more strict diet and I'll just have to monitor my blood levels. Mom & I both suspect that I've probably had it with all my pregnancies because my babies were all so big. They induced Kaylie a week early and she was still 8 lbs 7oz. and little Derek born a day before his due date was 9 lb 5 oz. They've just never tested for it before and other than that the pregnancy has gone fairly well.

Our summer has been great with bonfires and barbecues every weekend. We had a huge barbecue at our house last Sunday to see Darrin off, then afterwards he had a bunch of friends over for a bonfire. It was so much fun. We want to keep up a regular barbecue schedule now that Grandpa, the Watson's and the Palmer's are all getting big into the Dutch Oven scene! Its great and Oh it tastes so good. Plus, its so much fun to spend time with family and friends. I love having a huge family that I'm close to!!
