Grandpa Horman's 72nd Birthday Party

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!!! Actually his birthday is on Sunday, April 26, but we decided to celebrate it Saturday!! We were so excited that Scott, Ryan & Carissa were able to drive up from Utah to join the party. Scott made the best homemade baked beans. Eric & Patti brought fresh bakery rolls (my fav). Laura was the salad chef, bringing both her infamous jello salad and a yummy green salad. The Palmer's made dutch oven funeral potatoes and dutch over bbq chicken. Oh everything tastes better cooked in the dutch oven. (and "Palmer's" means "Brady" He is THE BEST cook. We are so dang lucky) We miss, miss, miss Stevie's family who live in Colorado. Michelle's family was in charge of the birthday cakes. I say "cakes" cuz we celebrated Ben's 1st birthday too which was April 23. Can't wait to post those pictures. And finally my niece Kimmy & Brian brought ice cream & cones!! Craig & Melissa and Corey & Becca, my married nieces also were able to come. The weather was warm enough for all the kids to play outside. Everything turned out so well!! Darrin drove to Montrose, CO this weekend to visit a friend and Derek is still in Florida installing Apx alarms. We sure missed then today. Also, thanks to everyone for entertaining me with my picture taking obsession!! Ya'll were great sports!!

Kaylie's Spring School Pictures

I am so thankful for the photographers that come into the schools and take my children's pictures. Heaven knows if pictures were only taken when I got around to it, it would never happen. So, I love that they take them each year at school, BUT...I'm not so sure I like the spring "Personality Portraits" the company now takes. They take their regular pictures in the fall. Send home an order form, buy a package, take the pictures, then bring them home. Now they also take spring pictures which always turn out so so cute, but they bait ya!! They take the pictures, know how cute they'll turn out then send them home to see if you would like to buy them. This totally tugs at the heart strings. First, they're so adorable you want them. Secondly, the thought of them shredding your sweet child's adorable pictures that you choose not to buy, just for them to go to waste, breaks your heart. So you think, okay I'll buy just one sheet, FOR THIRTEEN DOLLARS AND NINETY-FIVE CENTS, UGH! but the sheet your child wants is the cardboard-like sheet with punch out bookmarks/keychains etc. sheet that have a driver's license sized picture on them. That's not gonna work...the pictures are too small to even see the details. Ah, but Mom they're so cool. UGH. So I guess we'll buy that sheet and another sheet with regular pictures too. Now we're up to $27+. Just a few more dollars and we can have the entire package! Thirty dollars, sheesh...what about the poor families who have 3, 4, or maybe 5 children in school. Hum, 5x30 dang, that's only $150 for spring pictures or else they're gonna face the shredder!!! That's a lot of money. Good thing I spread out the ages of my children, um . . . I think? but, I do love the pictures and just so I don't get in trouble I'm giving credit to Bell Photographers for doing such a great job, year after year and they do donate "a portion" of the money to the school's fundraisers, so I guess the pictures are worth it and besides Kaylie looks absolutely adorable and so grown up, I might add, in her aeropostal shirt!! That's what's most important.
